About Squat Orange

We love making nice t-shirts for nice people – big ones, little ones, short ones, tall ones – we want to make t-shirts for the whole world!!! (Not just t-shirts either, we do lots and lots of different types of tops).

Whether you just fancy something a bit different that you won’t see on anyone else, (well there is a small chance, but it’s one in about 100,000 that someone else will pick the same combination of design and top that you do!!); if you want to make an outrageous statement (they do get pretty outrageous sometimes), or want to give a mate an individual pressie, that you’ve picked just for them – we can do it!!

How did it all start?

It all started on a holiday in Spain – Steve and Penny Burgess were dragging their poor long-suffering children around the beautiful town of Mojacar in Andalucia, but all the kids were interested in was the t-shirt printing shop! The kids dragged them in, and bought a t-shirt with their holiday money – the tops were not particularly good quality, the designs were pretty average and there was nothing for grown-ups. But it did get Steve and Penny talking – “wouldn’t it be great if you could go to a shop like that, and have anything you liked put on a t-shirt, and have a choice of lots of really great original designs?”

The concept of Squat Orange began to take shape.

What’s it all about?

Right from the start it was always going to be about quality and choice, both of the clothing and the designs. The designs had to be original, nothing mass-produced you could buy anywhere, and the clothes had to be really good stuff with a choice of style to suit as many people as possible.

And it was about our customers – we believe in making it easy for you all and we think our customers are always right,

And it was about us – having fun and making a profit for ourselves!

Where we are now?

 There’s three bits of our business, the shops, currently just in Cheltenham; our bulk orders for groups and parties like hen and stag nights, businesses, school holiday groups, lads and lasses holidays, colleges teams and groups; and then the on-line stuff. All are equally important and we always use the same quality clothing and printing methods whether we’re doing one custom built t-shirt, or 50 for the local council.

Our designs – available on-line or in the shop, are all original, either commissioned by us from some great designers, or designed in house (by equally great designers!)

We can do almost anything! We don’t just give you a choice of printed t-shirts; we offer a shopping experience like no other. You are totally in charge and involved with the design of your top – you choose the colour, style and size, decide what you want on it, and where, and then we put it all together for you. In the shop, by phone or by e-mail, we can put almost any slogan or design you like on a top and we love mail order. Some designs we can’t do due to the process we use, but we’ll let you know if we can’t.

The Future 

We are constantly on the look out for new clothing and other items for our customers to enjoy, and are always bringing in new designs.

We’ll continue to explore new garment decoration technology as it develops, to give us even more exciting and new ways for you to enjoy the Squat Orange experience.
